Classic Schulte Grid
Classic N×N grid for visual search training
Click numbers 1 → 9 in order
How to Play the Classic Schulte Grid
The Classic Schulte Grid is a square grid filled with randomly arranged numbers from 1 to N. Your task is to click the numbers in ascending order (1, 2, 3, ..., N) as quickly as possible. Keep your eyes fixed on the center of the grid and use your peripheral vision to locate each number. Start with a 5×5 grid (numbers 1–25). When you can finish consistently under 30 seconds, try the 6×6 grid. You can also switch to dynamic mode, where the remaining numbers reshuffle after every correct click.
Schulte Grid Training: What It Improves
The Schulte Grid trains four cognitive skills at once: selective attention (locking onto one target while ignoring distractors), peripheral vision (finding numbers without moving your eyes), visual scanning (systematic search patterns instead of random staring), and response inhibition (resisting the urge to click before you are certain). These are the same skills that pilots, radiologists, and speed readers rely on. Short, daily sessions of 5 minutes are more effective than long, exhausting practice.
